(I forgot to take a picture of the book so King Henry VIII will have to take the place of the cover. Curious why? Keep reading!)
P.S. This is our July Book of the Month… yep, posted in August (my fault, again!). – Whitney 😉
I am obsessed with Downton Abbey and the Biltmore House. The love of those two things led my sweet and precious neighbor to give me some books to read. Now, I am paying it forward and passing the love of these books on to you. The book I am reviewing today should be read FIRST. However, as you probably guessed, I read them backward. Yep, just like I watched Dances with Wolves backward. That is a story for another day.
Oh! Let me tell you – the first book I read – literally, it took me reading the endnotes before I realized I was reading about King Henry VIII. Clearly, I need to brush up on my British history.
Book of the Month – The Constant Princess
Catalina, Infanta of Spain, is in modern-day words a BOSS. She is the daughter of the king and queen of Spain and has been betrothed since childhood (yep, read that again) to Prince Arthur of Spain. The betrothal is for alliance reasons: England and Spain will one day need to fight France together. When Catalina is sixteen she travels to England for her wedding. Unfortunately, the romance is short-lived and Catalina (Katherine) has to consult her inner warrior and make a plan to fulfill her destiny: Queen of England. She becomes the first wife of Henry VIII and changes the course of England’s history. The selfish boy she married will continue into adulthood as a selfish man and will bring danger and destruction to the court of the Tudor dynasty.
