May is almost over. I put the keyword ALMOST in there because I still have a book of the month for May. Wahoo! (Did it fly by for anyone else?)
Book of the Month – The Lake House
I finished The Lake House by Kate Morton while spending some relaxing (read: therapy) time at the lake house up here in the mountains and knew it was my next must share! My past couple of reads have been set in Europe so I am thinking I need a vacation to Ireland and England. Those of you that have been please share your thoughts on the setting!
The Lake House is a mysterious place and holds secrets for those who resided in its protection. Now in her 80’s, Alice is forced to confront those secrets. Her baby brother went missing the night of Midsummer Eve’s party on her family’s estate. Alice thinks she knows what happened but plans to take that secret to her grave.
Enter Sadie Sparrow who was advised to take a leave from her policing job when she became a bit too involved in another missing child case. Detective Sparrow is in Ireland visiting her grandfather when she stumbles upon the rambling mansion and the mystery of the lake house. Tracking down Alice, she forces the famous crime author to confront what happened all those years ago.
However, what no one anticipates is that everyone is involved in the mysterious disappearance of little Theo. Take a read for yourself and test your “I should have been an investigator” skills. Let me know what dirt you uncover early in the pages of this must-read!
